Wellbank is the ideal location for commuters: Bootle Train Station is only 1 mile from Wellbank and there are good train links to Barrow, Whitehaven, Millom, Ulverston, Morecambe Bay, St. Bees, Seascale, Ravenglass and beyond. There is also a community transport bus operating between Bootle and Whitehaven called Muncaster Microbus which offers regular routes, taxi services and excursions.

Just off the main A595 road, it is easy to drive along the coastline to Sellafield – 30 minutes, Westlakes Science Park (Britain’s Energy Coast) near Whitehaven – 33 minutes, and BAE Systems in Barrow – 55 minutes. Captain Shaw’s C of E Primary School is located at the heart of Bootle Village, only a 10 minute walk up the road, and there are good secondary schools nearby such as Millom Sixth Form & Secondary School (13 minute drive), West Lakes Academy in Egremont (28 minute drive) and St Bees School in St Bees (36 minute drive).
